The 2025 Bangladesh Premier League, also known as the Dutch-Bangla Bank BPL T20 2025 for sponsorship reasons, is going to be the eleventh season of the premier Twenty20 cricket franchise league in Bangladesh. Organized by the Bangladesh Cricket Board, the tournament started on 30 December 2024 and will end on 7 February 2025.

 

**Teams and Franchises**

 

This season features the following seven teams:

 

* **Chittagong Kings**

* **Dhaka Capitals**

* **Durbar Rajshahi**

* **Fortune Barishal**

* **Khulna Tigers**

- **Rangpur Riders**

- **Sylhet Strikers**

 

Significantly, Chittagong Kings returns to the league, while new franchises include Dhaka Capitals and Durbar Rajshahi. In that respect, Shakib Khan's Remark-Herlan Group became the owner of Dhaka Capitals and renamed them as such. 

 

**Players' Draft and Squad Composition**

 

The players draft was held on October 14, 2024, at the Radisson Blu Water Garden in Dhaka. Each franchise was required to have a minimum of 12 players, including at least 10 local and 2 foreign players, with no maximum limit on the number of overseas players. Local players were categorized into six salary brackets, ranging from Category A (৳60 lakh) to Category F (৳10 lakh), while foreign players' salaries ranged from USD 80,000 to USD 20,000. **Tournament Format and Venues**

 

The BPL 2025 will be a double round-robin league with playoffs. Matches will be held at three venues: 

 

* **Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium**, Dhaka

 

* **Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium**, Chittagong

 

* **Sylhet International Cricket Stadium**, Sylhet

The detailed schedule of the tournament was announced by the BCB on November 12, 2024, which also contained fixtures and venues. 

 

**Marketing and Cultural Significance

 

The Official Theme for BPL 2025 is "Esho desh bodlai, prithibi bodlai" (), essentially showing the spirit of July Revolution in Bangladesh and turning it into the symbolism of a changed nation.

 

This theme song named "Elo BPL," composed by Bangladeshi Singer Muza and featuring Raef al Hasan Rafa along with Rapper Hannan Hossain Shimul, contains lyrics provided by Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus. The tournament also introduced its first-ever mascot, "Dana 36," a dove that loves peace, with 36 feathers representing the significant date of August 5 when the authoritarian ruler resigned amid a student-led uprising. **Opening Festivities** The music fest titled "Celebrating The Festival of Youth" inaugurated the tournament in Dhaka, Sylhet, and Chattogram on December 23, 25, and 28, respectively. The shows were staged by renowned artists like Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, James with his band Nagar Baul, Habib Wahid, and others, celebrating the spirit of youth and the cultural heritage of the nation. 

 

**Current Standings and Highlights

 

As of January 15, 2025, the tournament has seen some exciting matches, where local and international players have played with great enthusiasm. Tamim Iqbal-led defending champions Fortune Barishal have continued their good performances, while Rangpur Riders and Dhaka Capitals have emerged as other strong contenders for the title. The presence of international stars like Alex Hales, Shaheen Afridi, and Moeen Ali has added to the competition and international interest in the tournament.
